During World War II, over 6 million Jews were killed in what has become known as the Holocaust. Denmark was the only country in Europe to work together to save their Jewish citizens. The Danish perfomed many acts of bravery and courage in order to save over 7,000 Jews. Number the Stars is the story of the bravery of the Danish people. While reading this novel the students will engage in study of the Holocaust. In this uit they will take on the role of a newspaper reporter in order to write informational text about this period in history.
